Abstract

Zusammenfassung Rechte, mit denen das intangible Kapital von Unternehmen geschützt werden kann, erfreuen sich wachsender Nachfrage. Von 1990 bis 2008 wuchs die Zahl der Patentanmeldungen am Europäischen Patentamt (EPA) um durchschnittlich 6,7 Prozent per Jahr. In anderen Patentsystemen waren ähnliche Entwicklungen zu verzeichnen. Auch der Beitrag intangibler Güter zum Unternehmenswert stieg. Lagen die durchschnittlichen Quotienten aus Marktwert und Buchwert zu Beginn der 70er Jahre für Unternehmen im S&P 500 noch etwa bei 1,2, so erreichten sie im Jahr 2000 den Wert 7,5 (Lev 2001, 9). Das Management von intangiblen Gütern ist vor diesem Hintergrund zu einer besonders wichtigen, gleichzeitig aber auch komplexen Aufgabe geworden.
