Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Unsicherheit bei der strategischen Erfolgsvorsorge hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren massiv erhöht. Prognosen, die mit klassischen Methoden erhoben wurden, sind nach kurzer Zeit obsolet. Insgesamt schrumpfen die Prognosehorizonte, während die Folgen von Transformationen und Krisen kumulativ zunehmen. Viele Stellungnahmen fordern seit Jahren ein angemessenes „Frühwarnsystem“. Dieses Kapitel stellt einige erfolgversprechende Ansätze vor. Die Hoffnungen sollten sich allerdings nicht auf konkrete Vorhersagen richten. Denn die neue Zukunftsforschung bietet eher Einblicke in strukturelle Entwicklungsmuster, die in vielerlei Variationen wettbewerbsorientiert umgesetzt werden können. Genau das wird eine der wesentlichen Leistungen der Messewirtschaft der Zukunft sein: Ordnung im vermeintlichen Chaos aufzuzeigen und dazu Flexibilität in der Routine zu fördern, denn jede Messe ist einzigartig, gleichermaßen aber auch konstitutiver Teil eines repräsentativen Systems, das Möglichkeitsräume eröffnet.
