Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Geschichte des im Jahr 2015 von 193 Nationen verabschiedeten Weltzukunftsvertrages für das konzertierte Handeln für nachhaltige Entwicklung bis ins Jahr 2030 – der Agenda 2030 – reicht weit zurück. Gestatten Sie einen kurzen Rückblick auf die Genese dieser weltweiten Bewegung nicht beginnend bei Adam und Eva und deren Vertreibung aus dem Paradies. Blicken wir auf das Paradies, die Blue Marble. Sie erschien den Astronauten der Apollo 17 Mission Eugene Cernan, Ron Evans und Harrison „Jack“ Schmitt in der Nacht des 7. Dezember 1972 auf ihrem Flug zum Mond. Überliefert ist der Satz von Eugene Cernan: „Wir brachen auf, um den Mond zu erkunden, aber tatsächlich entdeckten wir die Erde.“ Das Bild der Vollerde mit Blick auf Afrika und den indischen Ozean war das erste Abbild der Erde, in dem der Mensch seine Welt von außen sah. Die Wirkung des Bildes war gewaltig. Die Blue Marble wurde zum Symbol der in den 1970er-Jahren entstehenden Bewegungen für Naturschutz und Umweltschutz. Das Bild versinnbildlichte die Verletzbarkeit und Einzigartigkeit des Erdplaneten. Das Bild wurde zum Symbol einer neuen Haltung zur Welt.
