Abstract

The internet is the latest medium of our time to appear, and it is spreading as much unease as the appearance of all other media before it. Especially the social media and their modes of action are criticised and additionally threaten classical journalism. Besides all the negative side effects, however, the world of the internet also stands for freedom of expression and for new ways of communication. These are possibilities that journalism could also make use of, but is struggling on the economic side because it is losing consumers on the one hand and advertising customers on the other to the internet. Finally, you will get a short outlook on the future of online media and journalism.
