Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das 21. Jahrhundert wird von der alles andere überragenden Gefahr der Zerstörung des Lebens geprägt. Die Beseitigung dieser Bedrohung hat höchste Priorität. Das Agieren in Blöcken ist kontraproduktiv. Nötig ist ein neues pragmatisches kooperatives Miteinander. Die über Jahrzehnte währende akute Gefahr eines atomaren Ost-West-Weltkrieges wurde durch Dialog gebannt. Das muss erst recht für das Szenario der irdischen Lebensbedrohung gelten. Diese Priorisierung ist zutiefst humanitär; unter allen Menschenrechten ist das auf Leben das höchste. Das prägt noch nicht ausreichend das Handeln der Mächtigen in Politik und Wirtschaft. Die bedrohte Menschheit muss ihren Druck von unten erhöhen. Wir sagen, dass die Schöpfung gerettet werden kann, und zitieren Friedrich Engels: Herausforderungen dieser Dimension brauchen „Riesen an Denkkraft, Leidenschaft und Charakter, an Vielseitigkeit und Gelehrsamkeit“. Wir hoffen mit Engels für das Heute, dass diese Riesen zumindest schon gezeugt sind.
