Abstract

Zusammenfassung Während die westlichen Industrienationen zuletzt mit einer stagnierenden Wirtschaft und der Finanzkrise zu kämpfen hatten, entwickelten sich die Volkswirtschaften im dynamischen asiatisch-pazifischen Raum (APAC) überaus positiv. Auf globaler Ebene hat die Region eine starke Position mit erheblichem Wachstumspotenzial erreicht. Die Länder Asiens gehören zu den innovativsten Volkswirtschaften der Welt. Singapur etwa belegte im Innovationsindikator 2012 – einer von der Deutschen Telekom Stiftung und dem Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie herausgegebenen Studie – den zweiten Rang. Die jüngste PISA-Studie zeigte zudem, dass die boomende Wirtschaft in der Region noch längere Zeit aus einem breiten Reservoir an qualifizierten, gut ausgebildeten und hoch motivierten Nachwuchskräften schöpfen kann.
