Abstract

Zusammenfassung Lean beginnt mit der Ablehnung von Verschwendung, wie sie von verschiedenen Autoren wie Helmold und Samara, Ohno oder Liker definiert wurde. Das auf Taiichi Ohno zurückgehende Lean-System wurde in den 1950er- und 1960er-Jahren entwickelt, um durch die Beseitigung von Verschwendung die beste Qualität, die niedrigsten Kosten und die kürzeste Durchlaufzeit zu erreichen. Der japanische Begriff für das, was amerikanische Unternehmen üblicherweise als Verschwendung bezeichnen, lautet Muda und wurde von Fujio Cho von Toyota definiert als „alles, was über das Mindestmaß an Ausrüstung, Platz und Arbeitszeit hinausgeht, das für die Wertschöpfung des Produkts absolut notwendig ist“.
