Abstract

The failures of the development industry are more than the sum of its parts. It cannot deliver aid even as donors would wish, it is locked into a self-referential ‘processism’ and symbiotic dependency, and it is evermore anchored in the West. Among donors, it seems that there is an underlying need to always confirm their legitimacy. In the end, what donors are best at is self-promotion and self-perpetuation.
