Abstract

The previous chapter explored the changes in socio-economic conditions of the households in the study areas. The impact of the ENRICH programme on economic wellbeing of the households has been analysed in this chapter by constructing a panel dataset of households that were surveyed both in the baseline and endline. Economic wellbeing is measured in terms of real household income and real household expenditure and changes in occupations of household members. Participation in the ENRICH programme loan component has been considered as the main intervention. Findings from this chapter will also provide a better understanding regarding whether and how the ENRICH programme has succeeded in eliminating tragic choice. This purpose has been accomplished by constructing and using panel data.
