Abstract

This book classifies the origins of information into two categories. The first is data organized to support decision-making. With the recent development of information and communication technology, there is a great deal of interest in the effective use of big data. In particular, the handling of unstructured text data that describes people's free thoughts is drawing attention. The second is the knowledge of others or society transmitted by letters, symbols, voice, etc. You only possess the knowledge of others when you understand and can use it. Unless you have the same experience, you may misunderstand it. This chapter overviews some methods of collecting data and knowledge and converting them into information. It suggests developing a measurement optimization framework for collecting data and knowledge and a hypothesis collection framework for interpreting them.
