Abstract

Human-induced global warming reached 1.0 degree Celsius above pre-industrial levels (IPCC, 2018). It is further likely to reach 1.5 degree Celsius sometime between 2030 and 2052 if global warming continues to increase at the current rate, causing an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme climate events such as heatwaves, droughts, and floods.
