Large Russian Agricultural Holding in Unstable Environments

Abstract

From 2013 to 2020, the Russian agrarian sector demonstrated a sustainably high productivity rate given the sanctions confrontation between Russia and some Western countries and the 2020 coronavirus lockdown conditions. Based on the productivity data obtained during this period, the author carried out research on the overall financial performance dynamics and the bankruptcy possibility of “Agrocomplex” of N. I. Tkatchev, one of the largest Russian agricultural holdings. This study aimed to formulate a more objective dynamic evaluation of the indicators describing the financial stability rate demonstrated by the agricultural holding and the Russian agro-industrial complex [AIC] as a whole. The results of this study show that sustainable productivity of the agricultural holding under review mostly resulted from the ability of the said holding to timely and consistently mobilize loan resources not only for merging and consuming processes but also for operating activity. Moreover, the author also established that the agricultural holding could be involved in the bankruptcy process if unable to gain financial resources in the necessary amount for any reason. This led us to conclude that the Russian agricultural field does not show the necessary level of financial stability. The research novelty is the functioning prognosis for a certain enterprise and the Russian agrarian sector in the medium term and suggestions to enhance their functioning sustainability.
