Disarmament in Germany and Regional Competition

Abstract

The interdependence of regional competition and the armed forces has not been systematically analysed in Germany. This can be explained by the little interest shown by German economists as well as a considerable deficit of reliable data. For this reason, it is impossible to present a survey of the solid state of knowledge demonstrated by means of relevant models and empirical tests. The gap cannot either be closed in this paper, nor is it the aim.
