Abstract

The present chapter assesses the impact of the Italian port reform on port planning and funding schemes. After reviewing the historical development of the Italian port system, Sect. “The Italian Port System” highlights the main critical issues of the current regulatory framework while Sects.”Port Investment And Finance In The Italian Port System” and “Port Operations in the Italian Port System” discuss the funding and operational impacts of the chosen regulatory solutions, with a particular focus on the concession regimes applied by the Italian ports.
