Abstract

This essay addresses the subject of Zakāt, which has been explored by previous studies. The method is qualitative, using descriptive analysis. The discussion consists of the research types of Zakāt, research approaches, research subjects, gender of authors, and countries of authors, studied locations, and also publication areas. It is found that most authors prefer to use the empirical research method to answer particular issues on Zakāt in countries or areas of study that arise. Most studies use the qualitative method, and the highest number of articles covered management subjects, followed by poverty alleviation. Indonesia had the most studies in Zakāt issues and also Indonesian journals had become the most preferred publication forum for authors to publish on Zakāt. The study concludes that literature on Zakāt still needs to be explored. It is recommended that researchers should continue their study of Zakāt.
