The Potential Role of Romania’s Technological and Scientific Capacity in Attracting FDI: An Exploratory Analysis of its National System of Innovation

In: Global Competition and Technology

  • Julia Manea

Abstract

Technological change and innovation are becoming more and more a central topic in economic analysis and policy making all over the world. This growing interest is a reflection of relatively new directions in the modern economy, which consider the main driving force in economic growth to derive from technical progress rather than capital accumulation. Both advances outside mainstream and neoclassical economics and an increasing number of industrial case studies have highlighted the importance of technological factors for industrial competitiveness and economic growth.
