Foreign Investment

Abstract

Britain has been conspicuously successful in attracting foreign direct investment in recent years. According to EU figures Britain received far more direct foreign investment than any of its partners in 1990 and 1991. In fact, in these two years Britain was the world’s second largest recipient of foreign investment after the United States, and was only overtaken by France (briefly) in 1992 and by China (substantially) in 1993.
