Abstract

R. Scotland calls itself ‘The national network’ — justifiably, because it covers events in the whole of Scotland and can be heard throughout the country. R. Clyde is limited to west Central Scotland, but there it can be heard by nearly 2 million of the nation’s 5½ million people. In news gathering, R. Scotland is well staffed not only in the central belt but with reporters in Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness, giving it a total of 43 journalists. When necessary, it can also call on the small stations in Solway, the Borders, Stornoway, Orkney and Shetland.
