Abstract

A credit presentation tries to set out the arguments for and against a proposal to lend, accept a counterparty in a transaction or otherwise take a credit risk. To achieve this, the writer must meet certain targets. The memo must show clearly what the risk is; what reward the bank receives for taking it; what the company’s strengths and weaknesses are — both generally and in relation to the specific proposal; and why the combination of all these factors leads him to recommend the risk.
