Abstract

Evaluating the power, influence, and leadership of Paul in the light of contemporary social science research demonstrates that there are a multitude of frameworks, theoretical models, and perspectives that can be used to understand the leadership process. This proliferation of models reflects the complexity of leadership phenomena, and no single model captures this complexity. Each of these models provides a distinctive, yet partial understanding of the leadership process. Although they provide valuable insights, they are also incomplete, biased, and potentially misleading (Morgan, 2006). In chapter 3, I attempted to address this complexity by developing an integrative model of power bases, motive patterns, influence tactics, and leadership styles. The comprehensive model developed in that chapter proposed a full set of relationships among leader traits, behaviors, and cognitive processes, along with the perceptions, attitudes, and behavioral outcomes of followers.
