Abstract

SLHRM entails making disciples. Hence, a foundational element of leadership DNA is developing subordinates, thereby promoting the fulfillment of their purpose and calling. Several key character elements are at the center of this approach. The first is humility in which we step back and equip our subordinates for a greater degree of success than our own, thereby promoting the needs of the mission and others first. Hence, we assume an attitude in which we esteem others more greatly than ourselves, and bear each other’s burdens in love. In essence, the leader is learning how to love employees from an altruistic perspective. This entails providing discipline and corrective feedback in a fashion that provides hope and encouragement. Hence, the leader needs to communicate clearly his or her appreciation and that they are pleased, but not satisfied, with the employee’s performance given their great potential. SLHRM organizations develop leaders that make themselves dispensable, while empowering others. They help others unbury talents and use them appropriately.
