Abstract

The twenty-first century is a knowledge economy. Intellectual capital is the fundamental driver of the knowledge economy. The unique challenges for businesses of the twenty-first century, is to design, develop and implement policies, processes and capabilities in order to expand and use its intellectual capital for economic and social development. Intellectual capital is distinctly different from the other assets of the organization, as it focuses on employee knowledge, skills, competencies, commitments, motivations, loyalty, mindsets, attitudes and behaviors for competitive advantage.
