Abstract

Steve Quintana was born in Havana, Cuba, where he was trained and worked as a graphic designer. He came to New York City in 1957 and continued to practice his profession. Since 1960 Quintana has been devoted to Santería and was ordained as a priest of Obatalá in 1982. He opened the House of Obatalá in 1988 in Dorchester and is well known as a ritual leader, diviner/healer, and spokesperson for his religion in the Boston area.
