Abstract

In 2000–2001, the Japanese Multinational Enterprise Study Group (JMNESG) conducted extensive field research on the management and production systems of the Japanese transplants, mainly in automobile and electronics industries in North American, 10 years after the previous one in 1986–89.1 Based on the outcomes of the latest survey, this chapter aims at elucidating the present situations of ‘hybridization’ of their management and production systems. It focuses on the transferability of Japanese-style management and production systems in North America, the main battlefield of global mega-competition
