Assertive Communication

Abstract

Assertiveness is about self-respect and respect for others, of communicating from an I’m OK: You’re OK life position with other people. The language of assertive communication reflects the values and beliefs that underpin assertiveness, of self-awareness and awareness of other people, in particular of being aware of choices that we are making in terms of how we interpret situations, and how we behave towards others.
