Abstract

The essence of free enterprise is that individual agents are allowed to make their own decisions. Consumers and labourers, for example, choose how much to spend, how much to save, how many hours to work at what wage rate. Firms decide which products to produce, how much to produce, what price to charge, which inputs to use, and how much to invest.
