Abstract

It is important to anticipate how China will manage its relationships with the rest of the world over the next several decades. This will fundamentally affect China’s ability to benefit from international relations, and more easily attain its domestic and foreign objectives. China’s role in world events as an active and regular participant in trade, investment, and foreign relations is of relatively recent vintage. This makes it difficult to anticipate and project the behavior of the PRC in years to come.
