Abstract

As mentioned in our Introduction, we are in the midst of an ongoing shift of power from West to East. Since the late 1990s, China’s global economic and political integration and the internationalization of Chinese companies have been multipronged, attracting the attention of politicians, economists, business people, and academics. Two interrelated questions are under discussion: “What are the rules for China’s economic and political development?” and “Will China rule the global economic and political system in the future?” This book has provided a unique contribution as it focused on emerging, timely, and important topics concerning the internal political transformation of China, which may lead to a change in the global political and economical arena. The book has presented both background information and theoretical explanations for the still open questions of the internationalizations of Chinese firms. It is one of the first books of its kind to reflect on the relationship between the Chinese domestic political and institutional environment and the internationalization of Chinese firms to developing and developed countries.
