Looking to the Future of Action Learning

In: Action Learning and its Applications

Abstract

The chapters contained in this volume demonstrate that action learning can occur in a wide range of contexts and environments. Action learning also blends smoothly with other management approaches, including organization development (OD) and future search conferences, both of which are addressed in this volume. It also fits comfortably with organizational learning and transformative learning. In the case of transformative learning, where fundamental changes of perspective can take place, it seems to be a rather common occurrence in action learning related initiatives. Participants can feel empowered, and experience a feeling of greater self-confidence, having taken on a significant and real challenge and successfully dealt with it. In the process, they can find that they were able to draw on inner resources that they did not realize they possessed.
