Abstract

Why do groups go wrong? Within any organization, individuals who comprise groups take for granted the way they work. This is because people tend to assume that “things” will “get done” largely because “things got done in the past.” However, this mindset is not appropriate when a group faces a new challenge. Once a group realizes what it must do collectively, members become aware of how this might impact their individual responsibilities. Quite often, the natural reaction is to reject this new reality.
