Abstract

In planning the U.S.S.R.’s national economy, great importance is attached to using commodity-money relations and such categories as price, prime cost, and profit. During recent years a number of important measures have been introduced in the U.S.S.R. to improve the existing price-formation system. In particular, the revision of wholesale prices for heavy industrial production is now being accomplished, purchase prices for agricultural goods have been raised considerably and, as a result, the incomes of the collective farm peasantry have been increased by several milliards of roubles annually. Changes were wrought in the field of the retail prices of consumer goods. All these measures are the natural result of the great qualitative advance now going on in the economy of the U.S.S.R.
