Abstract

Foreign direct investment (FDI) has long been a topic high on the policy agenda in emerging markets. The contribution of FDI to a country’s external financing and economic growth, the behaviour of multinational corporations, and the extent of regulation of FDI and other forms of capital flows are some of the issues on which policy-makers usually have to take a stand. It is no coincidence that economic research has devoted much effort to exploring these issues.
