Abstract

In this chapter a brown man combines some insights from affect theory and decolonial feminist theories from Latin America, to explore the historical conditions of possibility for the lack of empathy that brown men feel toward brown women. This generalized lack of empathy in all the arenas of public and private life produce an affective register in brown men’s bodies that frames all our interactions with women. While the history of this feeling starts back in colonization, its actual version is way more complex. The writing brown men summarize it throughout the chapter with the same phrase that works as a subtitle: Men hate women.
