Abstract

The main aim of this chapter is to investigate and analyse the necessity of formal and informal education in the field of the entrepreneurship and SMEs management in the Republic of Macedonia as a key factor for human resource upgrade. This phenomenon was investigated from two perspectives, the "demand side" and the "supply side" through the use of secondary and primary data. Two empirical studies based on parallel branches of research have been conducted concerning the current situation of the companies (SMEs) in the Republic of Macedonia in regards to their real need for different types of education. The findings presented in this chapter emphasize the existing necessity for entrepreneurship education. Moreover, we focus on the challenges and issues which need to be addressed in creating the favourable environment for students across all disciplines to develop the skills and mind-set of an entrepreneur.
