Growth of Islamic finance in Northern Europe

Abstract

This research explores the pattern of Islamic finance studies in Northern European countries, including Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, by conducting a comprehensive bibliometric mapping of Islamic finance articles published between 1997 and October 2022 in Scopus databases. Using Biblioshiny software, the purpose of this review is to track the expansion of Islamic business in Northern Europe, as well as to identify its fundamental elements and examine the published critical analyses. Multiple perspectives on Islamic finance were revealed via research and discussion. The results provide valuable insight into current and future publication trends in the field of Islamic finance. In addition, it provides key information on the most cited documents in Islamic finance studies in Northern Europe, the most productive contributors, the results of keyword analysis, the most productive countries and sources, network analysis data on the co-occurrence network, and information on the mapping of themes in the field of Islamic finance through October 2022.
