Abstract

This chapter emphasizes the importance of staying informed and current in academia to become an academic superhero. It provides various strategies for acquiring and staying up to date with scholarly work and developments in the field. This includes joining professional societies, reading journals and newsletters, utilizing electronic alerts and tailored updates, leveraging social media platforms, participating in listservs and discussion groups, staying informed through newspapers and online media, involving students in research, exploring interdisciplinary perspectives and utilizing institutional resources and professional development programmes. By actively engaging in these activities, academics can enhance their knowledge, identify connections with other scholars, and stay abreast of relevant research, policies and opportunities. Being well-informed and continuously updating one’s skills contribute to professional growth and demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning.
