Abstract

Despite the pandemic challenges, Islamic finance has been developing in Africa and a number of significant developments have taken in Africa in this regard in the midst of the pandemic. There is no doubt that Africa is witnessing progress in the development and requires strategic future direction to further develop it in a sustainable manner. In this regard, it is important to determine how the post-pandemic Islamic finance industry in Africa ought to be shaped. This chapter using a case study approach presents the impact of the pandemic on Islamic banks operating in Africa with the objective of proposing the future policy direction to shape the post-covid Islamic finance industry in the region. It is anticipated that the findings of this chapter will assist the stakeholders of Islamic finance industry in Africa including policymakers to shape the post-covid Islamic finance industry in the region.
