Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to provide an exploratory overview of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on French national sports federations. In the first part, I will describe the French sport model. I will also provide a brief history of the main health measures taken by the government during the pandemic. In the second part, I will elaborate on the impacts of the pandemic on organized sport participation and its structural consequences. I will also provide some insights on the economic consequences, both at professional and amateur levels. In the last part, I will describe the various support measures for the sport sector.
