Abstract

This chapter suggests research topics in the field of criminal asset recovery in the UK, both in terms of modern and legacy issues. New legal areas, not envisaged when the proceeds of crime legislation was first drafted, have had to be considered by academics and practitioners, such as cryptocurrencies. In addition, the UK's departure from the European Union has changed the way in which asset recovery between the European Union and the UK will take place. Both of these are relatively new areas that merit further research. More historically, comparative research ideas are examined based upon how domestic case law has developed and the under use of certain UK legislation has been identified, which again merits further research.
