Abstract

Chapter 2 provides an entry point for the comparative study of the influence of religion on PA. It maps and analyses the relationship of the religious to PA, i.e., relating religions and religious regimes to the configuration of public administrative systems. It presents the geographical distribution of the world religions and changes over time. It reports and discusses a world map of religious freedom, and it concludes with the identification of the religious regime of any given country in the world, which is the key mediating variable of the influence of religion on the public administrative system, in the framework of analysis we propose in this book.
