Promoting shareholder responsibility

Abstract

This chapter looks at three ways in which the law could be amended in order to promote or facilitate responsible actions by shareholders: clearly permitting online general meetings, allowing shareholder advisory resolutions, and reinforcing the capacity of companies to create special classes of shares that reward responsible behaviour with extra voting (and dividend) rights.
