Abstract

The private firm as a basic form of organization of society is the concern that originally gave rise to thoughts on technological innovation. In order to survive and compete, the firm must innovate, namely develop and use science. The imperative made use of the argument of scientists and their representative organizations as to the effect of science on economic progress. In turn, scientific organizations and public agencies commissioned studies to document the case.
