Abstract

This chapter reviews water-energy-food nexus interlinkages and governance approaches in cities and discusses potentials for adopting the nexus concept to facilitate cooperation and knowledge exchange among the relevant stakeholders involved in urban development, including citizens. It builds on experiences investigating WEF nexus and governance through an Urban Living Lab (ULL) approach in three mid-sized cities on water: Wilmington (USA), Tulcea (Romania), and Slupsk (Poland). The chapter highlights the importance of transdisciplinary data visualization and participatory modelling approaches for exploring urban WEF nexus interlinkages and opportunities for integrated nexus governance.
