Landbridging Eurasia

Abstract

Chapter 3 surveys Eurasia’s dual landbridging - the first involving China, Mongolia and Russia and the second covering China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and the European Union - before examining the China-Central Asia-West Asia-Economic Corridor between China, Iran and Turkey and the Caspian Sea region, and the prospects of a third landbridge from India to Europe. Reference is made to an array of China’s geologistics projects including the China Railway Express, the Belarus Great Stone Industrial Park and the Budapest–Belgrade railway upgrade. Varying reactions to China’s geologistics activities in Europe, Russia, Central Asia and Japan are considered. Then India’s involvement in the International North–South Transport Corridor is considered.
