La actividad de innovación en las spin-offs universitarias. ¿Existe alguna diferencia con el resto de empresas?

Abstract

El fomento, apoyo y número de empresas dentro de las universidades ha aumentado considerablemente en las últimas décadas. Uno de los argumentos presentes en la literatura y utilizados por las administraciones públicas y universidades es el mayor grado de innovación de las spin-offs universitarias. En este trabajo, en primer lugar, se estudian de forma detallada los datos de patentes de las spin-offs universitarias españolas en el periodo 2001-2010. En segundo lugar, se analiza la existencia de diferencias de medias entre las empresas de origen universitario y una muestra de control. Los resultados muestran que las variables referidas al carácter innovador de las empresas son todas ellas significativamente superiores para el conjunto de las spin-offs universitarias.
