This package contains two Stata data files that are spatial distance weight matrices at the province and city level of mainland China, respectively. The province consists of 4 municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, and Shanghai) and 5 autonomous regions (Xinjiang, Tibet, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and Guangxi). The city covers three administrative levels (cities directly under the central government, sub-provincial cities and prefecture-level cities). The distance between any two provinces (or cities) is defined as the great circle distance. The files may be used with Pisati's tools for spatial distance analysis (spmap) and supplement Merryman's china_map package.
