Abstract

Gewerkschaften sind zentrale politische Akteure in Demokratisierungsprozessen und in etablierten Demokratien. Doch während in den Politik- und Sozialwissenschaften seit vielen Jahren eine lebhafte Debatte über die Neuen Sozialen Bewegungen, NGOs und außerparlamentarische Demokratisierungsbewegungen geführt wird, scheint das wissenschaftliche Interesse an den Gewerkschaften als politischen Akteuren seit den 1980er Jahren zunehmend geschwunden zu sein.Die von Stipendiaten der Hans-Böckler-Stiftung im Herbst 2011 ausgerichtete Wissenschaftliche Tagung unter dem Titel ?Gewerkschaften im demokratischen Prozess? wollte einen Beitrag dazu leisten, die Rolle von gewerkschaftlichen Akteuren im politischen Prozess etablierter Demokratien, bei Demokratisierungsbewegungen in Schwellenländern und in autoritären Regimes wieder stärker in der internationalen akademischen Diskussion zu verankern. Mit dem vorliegenden Sammelband möchten wir die Beiträge der Referenten dieser Tagung einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit zugänglich machen.
