Abstract

Forschung, Entwicklung und Innovationen gelten als eine der wichtigsten Grundlagen für den Erhalt der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit eines Unternehmens, einer Branche oder eines Landes. Dies gilt für den Dienstleistungssektor in gleicher Weise wie für das verarbeitende Gewerbe. Auch Banken und Versicherungen kommen ohne Innovationen und auch ohne Forschung und Entwicklung (FuE), die als besondere Form von Innovationen gilt, letztlich nicht aus. Gemäß der offiziellen "Statistik zu Forschung und Entwicklung" hat der deutsche Finanzdienstleistungssektor im Jahr 2018 gut 236 Mio. Euro in FuE investiert. Im Folgenden soll versucht werden, diese Zahl einzuschätzen. Dazu werden vor allem Daten zur zeitlichen Entwicklung, der Vergleich mit dem gesamten Wirtschaftssektor bzw. dem Dienstleistungssektor sowie internationale Zahlen zu Forschung und Entwicklung, wie sie von Eurostat veröffentlicht werden, herangezogen.
