Abstract

Die Empfehlung des Rates (2016/C 349/01) zur Einrichtung nationaler Produktivitätsräte zielt auf eine nachhaltige Verbesserung der Produktivitätsentwicklung in der Europäischen Union ab. Das Gesetz zur Einrichtung des Produktivitätsrates in Österreich sieht zudem vor, dass neben Kennzahlen zur wirtschaftlichen Leistungsfähigkeit auch Aspekte der ökologischen Transformation und der sozialen Verantwortung berücksichtigt werden. Die vorliegende Hintergrundstudie für den Österreichischen Produktivitätsrat folgt einem Drei-Säulen-Modell der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit "Beyond GDP", basierend auf wirtschaftlicher Leistung, sozialem Ausgleich und nachhaltiger Entwicklung, und untersucht die relative Position Österreichs im internationalen Vergleich anhand ausgewählter Indikatoren. Vier Sonderkapitel widmen sich darüber hinaus den großen langfristigen Herausforderungen: Klimaneutralität, Digitalisierung, demografischer Wandel und (De-)Globalisierung.
