Abstract

Die COVID-19-Krise hat auch in Wien eine schwere Rezession ausgelöst. Die Bruttowertschöpfung brach im Jahr 2020 um 5,6% ein, wegen eines geringeren Einbruchs der Wirtschaftsleistung im 1. Halbjahr schwächer als in Österreich (–6,4%). Allerdings verlief auch die Konsolidierung nach dem Sommer in Wien etwas schwächer (2. Halbjahr –4,8%, Österreich –4,6%). Das Wachstumsminus geht dabei zur Gänze auf den Wiener Dienstleistungsbereich zurück – mit Tourismus, Verkehrswirtschaft, Kultur- und Freizeitwirtschaft als Brennpunkten. Sondereffekte in der regionalen Industrie stützen die Entwicklung. Die Zahl der aktiv unselbständigen Beschäftigungsverhältnisse nahm im Durchschnitt des Jahres 2020 um 2,4% ab (Österreich –2,0%), auch wegen eines statistischen (Einmal-)Effektes. Für heuer erwartet das WIFO mit dem raschen Abklingen der medizinischen Krise und den Öffnungsschritten ab Mai auch für Wien eine kräftige Erholung. 2021 wird die regionale Bruttowertschöpfung real um +3,6% (Österreich +3,9%) zulegen, auch die Beschäftigung wird mit +2,0% (Österreich +2,1%) stark nach oben tendieren. Dies wird die Lage am Wiener Arbeitsmarkt wieder spürbar entspannen.
